What are you you specifying as a router for a basic system? Nothing fancy required, just reliable and easy to set up for remote access.

We are starting to use UniFi for our networks and they just launched the UCG-Ultra. I think that will be our go to basic router. Remote access, management for additional UniFi products like switches, access points, power strips, etc. Going to be hard to beat for the $$$ in my opinion.

I do resi networking and unless I am doing many high-res cameras, all my networks are flat. I primarily use Araknis routers and have had very few problems. For basic home networking, what is the reason for needing anything more than an Araknis or Ubiquiti router? I am genuinely just asking, I have never needed more than what they provide.

I have used TP-Link Business parts on a few jobs. 1/2 the price of unifi and provide pretty much the same features (I believe I read somewhere that TP-Link and UI have a software partnership so the TP-Link Omoda app is very similar to the UI app).
I run the TP-Link stuff at home and have no issues with it. Obviously won't do MoIP but UI also has issues with this as well.

I haven't looked at the TP link stuff, but am curious in the possible similarity to Ubiquiti. Does TP Link have the same discovery capabilities?

Yes when used in conjunction with their controller, however their UI is not even remotely close to the extents of Unifi's, but for a basic flat network or some minor configuration it works good.

I've switched to using all TP-Link Omada for my networks. a basic router, Controller and wifi6 AP start about $200 in hardware.
I've had no issues with more advanced multi VLAN networks as well.
