Thanks for the correction, I'll read my links more carefully :) I will edit my previous post to reduce the confusion.

Repeat commands in sub-device 8 are curious. I had seen some examples where they repeated (like above where 222 repeats in sub-device 4 (00000100) and 36 (00100100) and my theory WAS that maybe it ignored the top 4-bit nibble).

As you probably know, Panasonic appears to be a subset of the Kaysekio protocol and what we consider the bottom 4-bits of the Device code is a check byte derived from the XOR of the two "fixed" 8 bit bytes 0x02 and 0x20 taken four bits at a time and is 0x0. Hence there are only 16 possible, valid device codes (all multiples of 16), but AFAIK, the sub-device is 8-bits. So, after all this only 244 sub-devices left for device 128 =:-)
