1. Download Remote Apps (I can't tell you which Apps or where to get them because you didn't say what type of tablet you bought and you didn't say what type of equipment you're trying to control).
2. Connect Equipment and tablet to same LAN.
3. Sometimes your tablet and/or the equipment will lose its Wi-Fi connection so you should always have a back-up standard remote in case you have to mute some loud music really fast or turn off the DVD with the porn you're watching when someone unexpectedly comes home.

@davidcasemore - Excellent answer. I love it! LOL
Do you know of a good iPhone/iPad remote control App I could use to IP control devices? I have a few GC Flex devices with HDMI extenders.
App: I'd want to be able to design my control buttons if possible. I currently work with Kramer controls and do this for offices, but I think the required "brain" devices is overkill for home.
PS. And since you mentioned a back-up standard remote. What remotes can you get to work with IP gateways?
