Strengths:Ultimate in programming flexibility
Weaknesses:no tactile feel . . you have to look at it to use it
Review:I was really excited about this when i got it . . . i programmed it with all of my equipment and then made custom screens. All very nice for the brain . . . but the lack of any tactile feel makes this remote difficult to use. Also any time the batteries are changed . . the contrast goes out of wack! so you have to memorize the sequence for readjusting the contrast because you won't be able to see the screen. I've had this for about two years . . the touch screen just went bad. . killing the unit . . remember . . these touch screens DO NOT last forever. I will not be fixing this . . there are much more user friendly, programmable remotes (see Sony) for much less

Strengths:fully customizable, PC synchnization, activity-oriented instead of device-oriented design
Weaknesses:frequent recalibration of the touch screen required to prevent wrong buttons from being recognized, LCD screen contrast bad, battery drainer, touch screen not always sensitive
Review:I have had this remote for over a year.
It started out as a welcome product in my family room.
Even my 7-year-old kid can use this to control the rather complicated home theater.
Gradually, the weaknesses (mentioned above) of the product started to annoy us and the problems happen increasingly often.
My wife has officially claimed that she hates it.
Perhaps it is due to the bad quality of my particular one?
Time to shop for another one.

Strengths:Thumb wheel is nice, ability to group buttons from different components on one screen, PC software makes arranging screens and backup easy.
Weaknesses:Touch screen problems. Backlight a bit dim.
Review:Went through two units, touch screen problems with both. Buttons worked intermittently at best. Pressing near but not on button (usually towards center of screen) sometimes caused button press to be recognized. Calibrating touchscreen many times didn't help much.

Strengths:Easy to set up
PC Editing software
A steal at $50 brand new from eBay
Weaknesses:Nothing except the dim screen
Review:Many people complain about this remote, I guess I would have complained if I spent $350, but for 50 bucks, it cannot be beat! The screen is a little dim for my wife but other than that she thinks its cool too (sure, we don't care about using 7 different remotes, but the ladies do!) It was a breeze to set up with the PC edit software, and it even learned the discrete codes for my sony tv - from what I've read in the forums, many people can't get their remotes to learn the discrete codes. Lucky me. What confused me was the incomplete button listing for my H/K receiver - I had to add half the buttons. Oh well. This is a great remote!

Review:This is actually my second TC1000. I purchased my fist one shorly after they were released. Well, I managed to pick up a second one (new) on ebay for $73.00 delivered. At that price it is an excellent remote!! However, I have to admit that I do love my Pronto a little better.
