The Harmony is a new style of activity-based remote control, completely programmed over the Internet. It features a compact design, a limited number of hard buttons, an LCD screen and a scroll wheel for operation.

Strengths:
It's small
Weaknesses:
Takes some time to set up, hook to PC,etc. For this price, I don't expect to work.
Review:
Pricey for a remote that you learn codes into for the company to use. Basically, I am working to make the company well-off. I just wanted an easy remote.

Strengths:
Ease of use Full features Powerful and intuitive Great customer support
Weaknesses:
Relative to other product - very few! However - Thumbwheel a little small. A little confusion on which button to use with thumb (push or wheel).
Review:
Great service!
I was a little put out that none of my devices (exact to model number) were in their database, but once through the website setup the rest was EASY!
Also, I needed to have one activity control more than two devices, after one call to the support line (which was answered immediately!!) I was using the "advanced mode" and got EXACTLY what I wanted.
In this day and age where technology is more or less taken for granted, it is really nice to see a product that uses the available technology, but also a company that knows how to make the product user friendly.

Strengths:
- This might not be part of the product, but their support is uncomparable - extremely configurable - TV listings - easy to use - easy for basic config.
Weaknesses:
-Uses three batteries -would not mind some more hard buttons to speed up some tasks
Review:
It is a great remote that will fit the needs of anyone who is not a tweeker (and possibly even some tweekers). It's biggest feature is the TV listing, that is very helpful. The only thing I found a bit tiring at first was switching between channels, the scroll wheel did not seem the most efficient tool if you knew what you wanted to watch and the two shows were on channels that were far apart. Luckily you can reorder the channels to put the channels you look at most often in prime locations.
It can do anything you want it to do, and the support staff are always willing to help you get it there.

Strengths:
Extremely versatile yet simple to configure and operate.
Weaknesses:
Need to be online to configure it.
Review:
I did the original configuration an just a few hours, and have been tweaking it ever since. Recently, I decided to add a menu item that would go into my TV's menu, and select program information that is broadcast along with the channel on some stations. I then added a menu item that reverses these steps so the secreen would be clear of this info. I then thought it would be better to do it with one menu item, with a 5 second pause between showing and clearing the info. I didn't know how to do this, so I e-mailed customer service and they fixed it for me almost immediately. Very impressive!

Not only do I enjoy this remote but the support is great.I am anxious to fully understand the total capabilities of this product. If there is a weakness, you cannot use the remote "out of the box", which should be understandable for a product this complex. My hope is that it will be worth the time invested.

Strengths:
Very easy to use, once you set it up. Compact, uncluttered design. Can be customized with XML.
Weaknesses:
Incomplete database of A/V components. Weak IR sensor. Need Internet connection to configure. Web interface needs work.
Review:
It took a lot of work to get my Harmony running correctly. But now that I've done that, using the remote is simplicity itself. It's fantastic to be able to select the "Watch a DVD" activity, and push just one button to turn everything on, in the right mode.
The reason the setup was so difficult was that only two of my four components were in the Harmony database. For the other two components, I had to painstakingly teach every command. Because the IR sensor worked so poorly, this took a very long time. Often, the command would be digitized in RAW mode and would not work. I had to teach the commands over and over until they were analyzed properly.
I also spent a fair amount of time customizing the menus and buttons. I needed a lot of help from Customer Support, as the web interface doesn't yet do everything it needs to. I must say that Customer Support is excellent! They answered every single question I asked, cheerfully and promptly.
Overall, I think the Harmony Remote is an excellent product, with excellent customer support. But you'll need the customer support, even if you're technically inclined. And if you're not, you should probably get a different remote.
