Welcome to The Great ProntoPro NG PCF Design Contest!
Design a ProntoPro NG PCF... win a Philips Flat TV!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW OVER! Check out who won by visiting this page.

Welcome to the member voting stage of The Great Philips ProntoPro NG TSU7000 PCF Design Contest! If you're a Remote Central member with a forum account created on or before February 9th, 2004, you are now given the opportunity to download and take a close look at all contest entries... and then vote for your favorite designs! Who wins the Philips Plasma television? You get to decide!

The opportunity to vote ends on March 5th, 2004. After that date, we'll tabulate everyone's picks and declare the three prize winning entries!

What will the winners receive?PhilipsFirst place will receive a 42” Philips 42FD9954 Plasma Television worth $5,999, along with a Philips ProntoPro NG TSU7000 color touchscreen remote control worth $999, for a total prize value of $6,998.

Second place will receive a Philips ProntoPro NG TSU7000 color touchscreen remote control worth $999, plus a Philips Pronto NG TSU3000 touchscreen remote control worth $399, for a grand total of $1,398.

Third place will receive a Philips ProntoPro NG TSU7000 Color Touchscreen Remote Control worth $999.

All prizes are courtesy of Philips!

What should I look for when voting? It's up to you to find your favorite designs! However, there are three aspects that you should try to evaluate for all entries:

Originality: How unique is the overall design? Are graphics innovative and original? Do all design aspects mesh well into something you'd want to use on a daily basis?

Layout: Are control buttons placed in logical positions? How easy and intuitive is the design's navigation? Does the PCF have good general ergonomics?

Quality: On a whole, does the design look good? Are bitmaps high quality? Are there any inconsistancies with button placement? Does the entry make the most of the TSU7000's capabilities?

For the original contest rules and guidelines, click here.

All entries are in the PCF file format and can be viewed with the Philips ProntoProEdit NG software package. Use the program's built-in ProntoPro NG Emulator to see exactly how an entry will look and operate on the actual remote! Please be patient, as large files can take a while to load and emulate.

How will the voting process work? First, you will be shown 6 pages, each containing up to 6 entries (there are 34 entries in all). For each entry you'll be shown four screenshots and a brief description. Below each entry is a link leading to a page with four full-resolution screenshots, a complete description, plus a link to download a file containing the original PCF version of each entry. We recommend that you download and check any design that you're interested in, as many designs include animations that can only been seen in the ProntoPro NG's emulator.

Remember the numbers of the entries that you want to vote for!

Next, you'll be taken to the voting page, which has a thumbnail index for all entries and a form where you can pick your five favorite designs. It doesn't matter what order you select them in - your first vote has just as much weight as your fifth. In order to make the process as easy as possible, you can vote in stages - make one selection today, two tomorrow, etc., up to the maximum of five per user.

Select your favorite designs, enter your user account name and password, then press the "Submit" button. That's all! Remember that you can only place a total of five votes, and once you've voted you cannot change your selections.

I'm ready! Let's see the entries!
