ATI Remote Wonder II ATI Remote Wonder II reviewed!
A popular new emerging category of remotes are those designed to operate computers – either in a home theater environment or just as a way to make TV or DVD viewing on a regular PC more intuitive. Lately, the range of PC remotes offered has been blossoming, thanks in part to the emergence of HTPCs (Home Theater PCs) and Microsoft’s marketing of Windows XP Media Center Edition (which actually ships with a remote).

For those who just want to upgrade their existing computer systems, solutions such as ATI’s Remote Wonder II are available. Some time ago we took a look at the first Remote Wonder (read the review). This new model is obviously a completely different design than before, so what exactly has changed?

Today I’m pleased to announce our complete review of ATI’s Remote Wonder II, packed as usual with plenty of photographs and screenshots. For the first time ever, we’ll also be taking a look at both Windows and Mac drivers, and how they differ.

New forum for PC remotes!
Since this marks our fourth review of a remote control geared to operating computers, it only seems about time that a new forum is launched, one specifically for PC remote controls and their use with Home Theater PCs.

Check out the new forum and talk about the ATI Remote Wonder, Soundgraph iMON, SnapStream Firefly, ONEbox PC Remote, Nivius PC Remote, Streamzap PC Remote and more!

File area updates...
All recent submissions to our remote control file areas have now been caught up-to-date. In particular, you’ll find many new files in the Pronto Classic, Pronto NG, iPronto, Home Theater Master MX-700/MX-800, MX-3000 and MX-500 sections. Look for the green “What’s New” link to see recent entries!

ProntoPro NG owners in particular will be pleased to see that Philips has recently updated ProntoProEdit NG to version 1.1.3, adding support for the unit’s complete 32 megabytes of memory, as well as improving transfer speeds, simulation preparation times and adding import support for all black & white files. Download the new version and its required firmware update here.

Pronto NG users may also want to check out ProntoEdit NG v2.0.9, which snuck out a little while ago without any fanfare. The changes to this particular version over the one released last spring are few, however, mainly concentrating on improving IR code learning. Get it here.

Also, iPronto owners will want to download iProntoEdit v2.5.2, which adds support for the unit’s MMC card slot, as well as enhancing several other areas. Get the new version here, and remember to upgrade your iPronto’s firmware over the net.
