This is definitely a slower site now a days as its been 6.5hrs since I received the emails from both companies and not a single post on here about it.

What do you all think of this? I could see Resideo doing one of two things.
1. Limiting control of their proprietary lines to C4 only which would affect Crestron, RTI, URC dealers and the products they offer.
2.Spends more on their proprietary products creating more advanced APIs allowing for more advanced control with other systems.

Me being in Canada and a non C4 dealer I don't think it will have much affect on us. They both currently have warehouses 2hrs from our office (on a good day) so we need everything shipped anyways.
You can't fix stupid

We will see if my mantra of never integrate anything Honeywell endures. Its probable they will put a moat around Control4/SnapONE/Resideo product integrations.

Personally, I hope they leave Snap alone. If they turn it into just another branch of ADI, I'll be hitting the old dusty trail.

Snap is an absolute shit show.  Whether ADI is as well is irrelevant I believe. Every just keeps buying every one else up and leaving a path of shit and destruction along the way.

Sadly, I went to the Facebook groups when I saw the emails. The Snap email wasn't super clear but ADI sure was lol.

Just another corporate hack and slash coming up. My Snap one and ADI branches are within 15 minutes of each other. I would be surprised if they kept both around long term. (Though I've never used ADI for anything.)

I feel bad for the Snap guys. I've known a lot of them for years going back multiple disty iterations.

I feel that pretty much everything Snap buys up they just take the IP and bury that brand. Look at Pakedge- they scooped all the good out of it and tried to stuff it into Araknis and its still shit. Ruined a great product. Autonomic was smart to buy their company back before it was destroyed as well. Not a C4 guy which seems like the only thing they care about.

I don't know your problems, but I have been fine with them, with the one exception to the lack of technical knowledge at the home office and one of the branch locations. The local branch hired the manager of another distributor and he runs it pretty well. He hired someone who has been working in sales (retail and at distributors), install, service and other positions locally, for Best Buy (pre Geek Squad, locally and at their corporate location in MPLS) for at least 20 years. She's one of the few reps who actually have real on the job experience and if she doesn't know the answer to a question, she finds it. Yeah, I wrote 'she'.

I'm not sure the local Snap branch will be closed- they just had the grand opening last Thursday.

Funny you mentioned that the site is slower...

I was at a distributor some time back and some other installers were asking about Samsung Frame set-up. I told them that I just posted a fix for their particular problem on remotecentral and they both responded "What's that?"

That's how I knew my time is short.

Should have mentioned IP - that’d be a double whammy for sure.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

so if this site is getting slower where can we go to find all the useful info and share problems and solutions?

I lasted one weekend...
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

1) You wrote 'she' as if that should be a surprising answer. Historically women in professional positions take their job more seriously than their male counterparts do. So I personally would find it more desirable to have a female rep, higher chance of having great service.

2) I dropped ADI 15+ years ago. Their incompetence at a company level was so bad, there really was no choice. IT WAS THAT BAD! So many issues.
I have not heard or seen anything within that time, that would make me believe anything has changed that much at ADI.
There has been some times over the years I've needed something that ADI had and I couldn't get it from anywhere else. I literally said F^it and either told the customer we can't do it; or redesigned it to use another device that I didn't have to get from ADI. IT WAS THAT BAD!

How many women do you know of in this industry?

I called her yesterday, to find out if there was any info and she said the deal isn't done yet and they're not leaping to any conclusions, so it's same ol', same ol' for until they do hear something. One point that she said was raised is ADI's pricing and if I had my way, it would include comments about the lack of technical and product knowledge among most of the staff at the local branch.

She has been my rep at four different distribution companies since around 2003, so the 'she' part of the post was based on comments I have heard from others in the industry WRT women in technical areas. I think the lack of women is more due to lack of interest in AV/Home Theater, etc to the extent that they want to do it for a living.

My favorite supplier has 25 % of the sales force women. I'd say being able to supply accurate information at a competitive price, with access to a variety of lines helps make them successful.
